Summary:
As a veterinary assistant, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and other veterinary staff in delivering quality care to animals.
Your responsibilities will include assisting with animal handling, providing basic nursing care, maintaining cleanliness in the clinic or hospital, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily tasks.
Responsibilities:
Animal Handling:
Safely and gently handle animals during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
Basic Nursing Care:
Assist with feeding, bathing, grooming, and administering medications to animals as directed by veterinarians or veterinary technicians.
Cleaning and Sanitizing:
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in animal housing areas, examination rooms, and surgical suites.
This includes cleaning cages, kennels, and other equipment.
Equipment Maintenance:
Clean, sterilize, and maintain veterinary equipment and instruments.
Assisting Veterinarians:
Provide assistance to veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other procedures.
Client Interaction:
Interact with pet owners, answer basic questions, and provide support as needed.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of patient care, treatments, and procedures.
Inventory Management:
Assist in inventory management by stocking supplies and monitoring inventory levels.
Emergency Response:
Assist during emergency situations, including triaging patients and providing first aid.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience working with animals preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable with handling animals of various sizes and temperaments.
Basic knowledge of animal care and health.
Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
Physical stamina and dexterity required for tasks such as lifting and restraining animals.
